All content within The Illusion Edit — including written text, photography, illustrations, page design, chapter structure and terminology — is the intellectual property of Metanah Ryan and is protected by Australian and international copyright law.

What your purchase includes

When you buy the book, you receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to:

  • Read and re-read the book for your own personal use.
  • Reference it during your own salon consultations and styling decisions.
  • Keep it in your home, your studio, or wherever it's most useful to you.

What is not permitted

Without prior written permission, you may not:

  • Scan, photograph or otherwise reproduce pages to share with another person.
  • Upload the book — in whole or in part — to any website, cloud folder, drive, forum, group chat, or file-sharing service.
  • Resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute the book in any format.
  • Reproduce substantial portions of the text or imagery in print, online, or on social media.
  • Use the content commercially — including in training materials, courses, client handouts, or salon resources — without a separate commercial licence.
  • Use the content to train, fine-tune, or generate output from any AI or machine-learning model.

Short, credited quotes for personal reviews and recommendations are warmly welcome — that's not what this clause is about.

Pre-orders

Placing a pre-order reserves a copy from the first print run. Pre-orders are charged at checkout and posted as soon as the run arrives; expected timeframes are shared on the shipping page and any change is communicated by email.

Refunds

We do not offer change-of-mind refunds on printed books, including pre-orders. Orders that arrive damaged or faulty will of course be replaced or refunded under the Australian Consumer Law — please reach out within 14 days of delivery.

If you'd like to share the work

For press features, podcast mentions, excerpts in articles, bulk salon orders, or any commercial use — please get in touch. The answer is very often yes, it just needs to be a conversation first.

Enforcement

Unauthorised reproduction or distribution of this work may result in the takedown of the offending material and legal action under applicable copyright law. We monitor for redistribution and take it seriously — not because we want to, but because protecting this work is what allows it to keep existing.
